As the temperature rises and daylight stretches further into the evening, the anticipation of summer festivals, outdoor drinks, and weekend festivities fills the air in Kitchener.

And for residents eagerly awaiting the kickoff of the outdoor event season, the wait is almost over!
The City of Kitchener, Kitchener-Waterloo Oktoberfest, and the Downtown Kitchener BIA are thrilled to announce the grand opening of the 2024 summer events calendar with WelcomeFest, set to take place in Downtown Kitchener on May 24th and 25th.
This two-day event will mark the start of the festival season in the heart of downtown Kitchener.
Beginning on Friday, May 24, this day will include a live concert and the 2024 events launch.
Friday 24 May Schedule (5 PM – 10:45 PM):
- 5 to 6 p.m: U.N. Jefferson
- 6 to 6:30 p.m: 2024 Kitchener events announcement and keg tapping with K-W Oktoberfest
- 6:30 to 7:30 p.m: Saint O - Caribbean Jazz Ensemble
- 8 to 9 p.m: The 99’s
- 9:30 to 10:45 p.m: Alli Walker
Throughout the night, there will be delicious food by ChefD along with a licensed bar area and music from The Golden Keys.
Saturday 25 May Schedule (12 PM – 10 PM):
Mark your calendars for the inaugural Palette to Palate event, hosted by the Downtown Kitchener BIA, on May 25th from noon until 10:00 pm.
Get ready for a day filled with captivating activities and events spread across the sidewalks, public spaces, and businesses of downtown Kitchener.
Come celebrate life's greatest joys: art, food, outdoor dining, and the warmth of summer!

Time: Friday from 5 pm to 10:45 pm and Saturday from noon to 10 pm
Location: Carl Zehr Square and throughout Downtown Kitchener
